Ancient Egyptian linen fragment from Hawara or Illahun dated AD 395 – 642

A linen fragment. Plain woven linen with three woven stripes of paired wefts with a decorative tapestry wovem band. The band consists of three woven geometric shafts in red, green and yellow. The edges of this band have a repeating design of seven lozenge shapes and a stylised floral motif. Large similar flower shapes are woven inbetween.
Plain woven with 16 warp threads and 12 weft threads per centimetre.
