Ancient Egyptian linen fragment from Matmar dated 4000 – 3500 BC Pad of linen, several layers thick. Somewhat open weave of fine evenly spun yarn, well twisted and some irregularly doubled. Natural flax colour. Very rotten. Structure well preserved. Fibre type A.
