Ancient Egyptian linen fragments from Mostagedda dated 4400 – 4000 BC

Fragments of linen with a regular close weave of thick doubled and well twisted yarns. The fragments are mostly dark brown, a few almost natural flax colour. The fibre used in the former is type C, not well prepared. In the latter the fibre is type B, well prepared. Bits of goat hide, with hair adhering, are loose from the cloth. All very rotten, but structure well preserved.
