Ancient Egyptian loom weight from Amarna dated 1550 – 1069 BC

Baked clay loom weight, roughly carved to represent baboon or other creature from the side, flat bottom and a curved top. Traces of red paint on exterior surface. A groove runs around the horizontal axis, near the base, and around the central vertical axis, modern string has been tied around the latter. The vertical groove ends in a notch at the top of the piece, perhaps to secure the rope or part of the decorative scheme.
