Ancient Egyptian mallet from Deir el Bahari Thebes dated 1550 – 1295 BC

Wooden stone mason’s mallet, to be used with a metal chisel to carve relief etc. into stone. Rougly bell shaped, it has a short cylindrical handle, with a flat base. The outer surface has been roughly but accurately chipped into place.
