Ancient Egyptian netting mesh stick from Qaw el kibir dated 1295 – 1186 BC

Fairly thick animal bone, pointed at one end and rounded off at the other. With a few cutting marks of threads visible at the edges. Used as a spacer when making a net or used to retain the threads in their respective positions and in this case not to measure the size of meshes. Used to make nets for fishing, fowling and garments.
