Ancient Egyptian oil lamp from Hierakleopolis dated 30 BC – AD 395

Small pottery oil lamp. Orange or brown pottery. Round reservoir, with central hole and projecting neck with hole at its tip. Shouldered type. The central hole is surrounded by a sunken band, broken up by three raised sections. The area described by the band follows along the neck. The base has an impressed circle in the centre of the reservoir, with a potter’s mark in the centre of it which is some kind of diamond motif. There is also an impressed line that curves up both sides the base of the neck.
