Ancient Egyptian oil lamp from Hierakleopolis dated 30 BC – AD 395

Pink and orange pottery oil lamp. Surface is degraded, may have been slipped originally. Groove type lamp, with an oval reservoir and integral spout. Central hole in top of reservoir, from which leads a ribbon handle, looped over to the back of the lamp and opposite this the spout. Part of the front and spout part of the lamp is missing. On the base in modern black ink is written ..904..E.. 1904 EEF ?.
