Ancient Egyptian oil lamp from Naukratis dated 30 BC – AD 395

Black pottery oil lamp, with elongated circular reservoir and integral spout. It has a central hole in the top with a concentric ring modelled around it, and an incised wreath motif around that. The spout has a ladder like design of incised lines. Has a maker’s mark incised into the base which is of seven lines radiating unevenly from a central hub, and each capped by a disc. Naukratis 31.86… is written in modern black ink on the base, and 7 in pencil.
