Ancient Egyptian oil lamp from Naukratis dated 30 BC – AD 395

Red pottery oil lamp, with a circular reservoir with a central hole in the top with a concentric ring modelled around it. The top of the reservoir is decorated with an incised frog and corn design. The spout projects from the body, but is broken at the tip. Blackening on part of the tip. There are the patchy remains of a white slip or coating on the outer surface of the lamp. Has an impressed ring shaped base. Naukratis EEF is written in modern black ink on the base and the number 3. There is a patch of modern glue and paper on the base.
