Ancient Egyptian pottery head dated 332 – 30 BC

Red pottery head of a cockerel which would have been attached to the neck of a plastic style jar. Crest on head, part missing, defined eyes, moulded wattles and a rounded stylised beak. Buff or yellow slip on surface, mostly worn away. Hole in end of beak, neck hollow, possibly forming a spout.
