Ancient Egyptian relief fragment from Amarna dated 1550 – 1295 BC

Two faces of a limestone back pillar, perhaps from a statue of Akhenaten. One face is plain, the other is inscribed with hieroglyphs in sunk relief, with a vertical band of text with an incised line either side of it. It bears two cartouches, one above the other. It is mounted in a block of modern plaster. The inscription reads ‘{(May Re live, Ruler of the two horizons) rejoicing on the horizon}, {In his name of Re the father, who has returned as the Aten}’.
