Ancient Egyptian rim sherd from Deir el Bahari dated 1550 – 1295 BC

Rim sherd from a blue faience bowl or dish, decorated with dark blue orblack designs. The rim of the bowl is painted dark blue or black. The interior decoration is of lotus flowers and buds with stems. The exterior decoration has a border of swirling lines like a row of stylised wave peaks, just below the rim. Below that is probably the top of a lotus petal, a triangular piece infilled with dashed lines. Two holes have been drilled into the piece for display mounting in the twentieth century.
