Ancient Egyptian rim sherd from Deir el Bahari dated 1550 – 1295 BC

Rim sherd from a blue faience dish, decorated with dark blue black designs. The rim of the bowl is painted dark blue black. The interior decoration is of a spikey fern like plant flanked by two stems with arrow head triangular tops. To the right hand side of this is a band containing diamond shapes placed end to end. The exterior is plain blue glazed. Two holes have been drilled through the sherd to allow attachment to a display in the twentieth century.
