Ancient Egyptian rope matting from Mostagedda dated 4400 – 4000 BC

Many fragments of rope matting made of doubled strands of strongly twisted fibre. The edge is of thicker, closely twisted strands. The material is broken into fragments but there are indications on the edge that strands have crossed the longitudinal ones at about every 25 mm.
