Ancient Egyptian scarab from Qaw el Kibir dated 380 – 330 BC

Degraded faience scarab (part of a set with 21.23.8.f,.g). Flat backed, with incised/moulded decoration on the front surface, showing the elytra, pronotum, clypheus etc. The legs are also modelled along the side of the piece. The scarab sits on an base plate through which are four holes at four equidistant points. They pass from the upper surface of the plate to the base, and allow attachment to the mummy. Patches of blue glaze remain, and there is brown mottling over much of the surface.
