Ancient Egyptian shabti from Deir el Bahari dated 2055 – 1985 BC

Wooden shabti figure, with feet missing. Arms are crossed over the body, with clenched fists. Facial features and ears are carved into the wood, as is the wig, the two lapets of which fall over the shoulders at the front of the figure. The wig is on the back, as is the edge of the bottom. No surface decoration or inscription remains, if there ever was any. There are cracks running vertically through the object, and the base, where the feet are missing is frayed and splintered. Two holes have been put in the back of the figure, probably for steel pins used in the early twentieth century for exhibition mounting.
