Ancient Egyptian sherd from Oxyrhynchus dated 332 BC – AD 395

Sherd of flat green glass. Made using two types of glass. A translucent green as the background material, with an opaque light green, white, yellow glass, edged with black in places, sunk within its matrix. The opaque glass forms a pattern of ovals from the surface. Probably made by placing glass rods into a piece of flat molten glass, possibly millefiori technique.
