Ancient Egyptian shoe fragment from Hawara dated 30 BC – AD 395

Fragment of a leather slipper or shoe, left foot. Most of the upper part of the shoe made from a single piece of leather, consisting of a low covered front part which would have covered the toes, and one shallow side remianing. Half of the back section with the holes where it would have been joined to the other side. Stitch holes remain along the bottom edge, where the upper joined the sole. The sole is intact, but seperate from the upper. The fragments listed with 1911.58.18.a may come from this shoe. There are the holes where it would have been joined to the other side.
