Ancient Egyptian silk fragment from Faiyum dated AD 395 – 642

Red, plain woven ground with gold or greenish stripes. Colours not very well preserved. Evenly woven. Stripes formed from long floats in the weave – satin weave. There are 29 to 31 warps and wefts per centimetre.
