Ancient Egyptian stela of Iy son of Keki from Abydos dated 1773 – 1650 BC

Round-topped stela in incised relief with 2 standards of Wepwawet at top. Inscribed with funerary prayer and depicts owner Iy, “carrier of lands” and his family, namely wife Atu, sons Ibi & Sneferu, daughter Keki; father Ibi, mother Keki, two men Id & Neh, priests & perhaps Iy’s brothers, and lady Tity, probably his sister. Also 5 ladies of the house, most likely relatives.
Notes: :At top are two facing figures of Wepwawet on standards. Below funerary offering prayer for the ‘Carrier of Lands’ Iy, a scribe working with documents concerning agriculture and building. Iy shown seated on left before a table of offerings on first register and facing him are his wife Atu, son Ibi, daughter Keki and son Sneferu. :On second register are his father Ibi, mother Keki, two men Id and Neh – priests and probably his brothers, and a lady Tity, probably his sister. :On the third register are five women, all described as lady of the house and most likely relatives, who are named: Horemheb, Renseneb, Mery, Satjedut, and Sahi. :Found in situ in a niche in the superstructure of a tomb or offering chapel.
