Ancient Egyptian stela of Senwosret from Sarabit el Khadim Sinai dated 1831 – 1786 BC

Three pieces, two large and one fragment, from a stela, with scene and inscription on front, erected to commemorate a mining expedition to Serabit el-Khadim in the reign of Amenemhat III. Name of intendant not preserved. Dedicated by Senwosret, born of Hathorhotep.
Front face incised with scene and inscription: :On upper 2 portions is figure of king seated on a throne with inscription: :”Lord of the Two Lands, King of Upper and Lower Egypt, Nymaatre, lord of initiative, son of Re, Amenemhat, given life like Re”. :Behind the king is the figure of a man, the intendant, holding a fan with inscription: :”True….his beloved of his affection, the god’s treasurer….the intendant, leader of recruits, taken (into the confidence of his lord)..” :Lower portion shows figure of Senwosret offering a vase before a false door. The scene is described as ” the first of the offerings of these youths to this(?) god”. Behind the figure is inscribed part of Senwosret’s titles and his name: “….of the Treasury, Senwosret, conceived of Hathorhotep, true of voice, possessing honour”.
