Ancient Egyptian textile fragment from Antinoe dated AD 395 – 642

Small tapestry woven roundel, attached to linen. Flax warp, red wool weft, running floral stem device with rosette in centre and wave border all worked in undyed flax thread. Slip stitched onto linen. Part of the design within the roundel is hand stitched.
