Ancient Egyptian textile fragment from Faiyum dated AD 395 – 642

Linen cloth, very fine weave, embroidered with double and treble strands of flax in rosettes and bands. A band of tapestry weave of red wool with a tree device and wave border in yellow wool. There are 11 warps per centimetre. Each warp is a double thread. The linen has 24 warps and 19 wefts per centimetre.
