Ancient Egyptian textile fragment from Faiyum dated AD 395 – 642

Large tapestry woven panel and border in brown, purple and blue wool and flax on the dark purple warp of the fabric. The panel is cartouche shaped, enclosing two circles divided by and oval. These and the border are decorated with crude anthropomosphic figures.
Tapestry. There are eight warps per centimetre.
