Ancient Egyptian textile fragment from Hawara or Illahun dated AD 395 – 642

A fragment of a purple woven border with repeating geometric embroidered sections within the border. Embroidered in cream linen thread. A woven scalloped edging trims the edges of the embroidery.
Tapestry is used to form the scalloped design. The embroidery is of two ply Z twisted threads with eight warps per centimetre.
