Ancient Egyptian textile fragment from Hawara or Illahun dated AD 395 – 642

Three woven borders stutched together. They are all of blue woven wool weft and warp. The bottom border has a geometric design in inen thread, with long floats on the reverse side. Narrow woven stripe along each selvedge in red wool.
The middle border is backed onto linen. It has a linen woven geometric design and red wool stripes along each selvedge.
Top border similar to previous borders, with no red stripes.
Plain woven wool with linen. Additional weft with cut, long floats on the reverse. There are 12 warps and seven wefts per centimetre. Extra weft, three threads form one weft.
