Ancient Egyptian textile fragment from Hawara or Illahun dated AD 395 – 642

A fragment of woven wool with linen stripes. This cut length with linen warps arranged in alternate pairs creates a woven ridged effect. The central stripe appears to have additional warp woven threads, cut to form a fringe on either side of the stripe.
