Ancient Egyptian textile fragment from Illahun dated AD 395 – 642

Linen, the warps forming a fringe, with border decoration of lines produced by the use of thick soft weft. A band embroidered in coloured wools
Plain woven. There are 12 warps and 12 wefts per centimetre. Selvedge to left side, two sides cut. Fringe along the base. Embroidery is a diamond design using coloured wools, over three warps under one warp. There is a running border – in red and green wools.
