Ancient Egyptian textile fragment from Oxyrhynchus dated AD 395 – 642

A fragment of linen cloth with two tapestry woven bands in dark blue wool, on which animal figures and rosettes alternate. These are worked in undyed flax and have a thread of crimson embroidered on each. In between the bands is an undyed stripe with blue rectangles. These are worked in undyed flax and have a thread of crimson embroidered on each. Decorated border in undyed flax at the top and bottom.
Tapestry and plain weave. There are 10 warps and 21 wefts per centimetre.
