Ancient Egyptian textile fragment from Oxyrhynchus dated AD 395 – 642

A fragment of linen panel tapestry woven in blue black wool and undyed flax thread. The design is a running lion, repeated in compartments formed by a floral stem, forming a border around a larger central circle, now missing. The ground is filled in with fine wavy lines of blue black wool and undyed flax.
There are nine warps per centimetre and two threads per warp.
