Ancient Egyptian textile fragment from Oxyrhynchus dated AD 395 – 642

Brocade. Three sheets of linen, the two upper stitched to form a quilted surface in rosettes. Worked in blue and gold silk thread. A fragment of blue and gold border is attached.
Plain weave with 34 warps and wefts per centimetre. The embroidery, possibly stem stitch, is cream silk. Possibly chain stitch, blue silk.
