Ancient Egyptian textile fragment from Oxyrhynchus dated AD 395 – 642

Linen fragment, the end of a shoulder band to a tunic. Tapestry woven in purple wool with flax thread embroidery. The design looks like a is a pine cone or corn, the scales outlined in flax thread.
There are eight warps per centimetre. Surface embroidery to create the ‘scale’ effect.
