Ancient Egyptian textile fragment from Tanis San el Hagar dated AD 395 – 642

Deep yellow loose woven fabric, the warp ends bunched and plaited forming a fringe along one edge. Groups of treble and double stripes in undyed flax have been woven to form a border.

Plain weave. 12 warps per cm. The weft stripes vary from 9-11 picks per stripe.
