Ancient Egyptian textile fragment from Tanis San el Hagar dated AD 395 – 642

Linen, with inlaid design of a series of lozenges in red wool with green centres and angles. Wool perished in parts.

Plain woven linen with design inlaid – possibly embroidered into the weave. 15 warps per cm – linen. 9 linen wefts per cm. Wool design passes over 3 warps.
