Virtually intact wooden figure of a man, from a tomb model. The figure is in a seated position, with his legs bent, so that the knees come up in front of the chest. His arms are straight and dowelled separately into position, then and painted in position. At the ends of the arms, a slot has been cut up from the bottom, either to represent hands, or to allow a hand or oar to be fitted. The figure is painted, with a red tone for the flesh, white kilt and black and white eyes. hair was depicted in a short bob with blcak paint. There a hole in the base where the figure was probably attached to the boat, and two filled holes in the lower back of the figure (near to which are written in pencil ‘X’ ‘Y’ – modern). The arms are loose, and there is damage to the top of the knees, as well as some paint loss.
