Ancient Egyptian tunic fragment from Mostagedda dated 30 BC – AD 642

Long band of coarsely woven yellow cloth, woollen, plain weave with tapestry woven band 85mm wide stitched to it. Band woven in red, blue and yellow on hard twisted double warps. Series of roundels evidently formed the central pattern, but all perished probably owing to strain on warps when weaving them. Yellow cloth to which band is stitched has a cable edging and rough darn in thick yellow wool.
