Ancient Egyptian tunic fragment from Mostagedda dated 30 BC – AD 642

A long band, probably the lower border of a tunic. Tapestry weave 90mm wide, in blue and yellow wool. The design has been a row of circles and semicircles, the circles enclosed in diamond-shaped lozenges of yellow with a red spot at intersections. Most of circles and semicircles missing, warp threads having rotted. Fragment of wool fringe probably from border of band. Cable edging on tunic.
