Ancient Egyptian vessel from Hawara dated 30 BC – AD 395

Cylindrical fine wooden cup or box, with a curved base. The base has a central hole, which has been plugged with a dowel, and a hole on the edge of the base, with part of a dowel protruding through it on the inside and outside. The vessel has been broken on one side, and restuck in modern times. Four longitudinal cracks, and one irregular fissure running around nearly half of the cylinder.
