Ancient Egyptian winged scarab from Dandara dated 332 – 30 BC

Green faience scarab, broken in two across the upper body. Flat undecorated base, moulded upper surface. Elytra, pronotum and clypeus are represented as incised decoration. No legs depicted, but around the edge of the scarab six holes have been at regular intervals to enable the piece to be sewn to a mummy. Peices of modern paper adhere to the back of the piece.
