Ancient Egyptian wooden box dated 1500 – 900 BC

Rectangular wooden box made of pieces of wood joined by dowels; 2 strips of wood on base as feet. Sliding lid.

Metal pins on lid and side of box would have held knobs or loops to secure the lid.

Box contains scaps of plain, relatively fine mummy linen, two pieces of unworked stone, and a typewritten label ‘BOX CONTAINING FRAGMENTS OF MUMMY CLOTH’
