Ancient Egyptian wool fragment from Antinoe dated AD 395 – 642

Two fragments of red woollen fabric with the thick selvedges on each side sewn together with doubled black thread. Plain weave. There are nine warps per centimetre within the plain weave. Selvedges – three or four warp threads form one warp. Three warps are formed like this on each side of the join.
