Ancient Egyptian wool fragment from Antinoe dated AD 395 – 642

Purple wool fabric, with selvedge. Thick coiled strands of soft woollen yarn, green and yellow mingled, stitched across the cloth at intervals of circa 2.5 centimetres.
Selvedge on one side is thicker with three warps, each composed of three threads. There are ten warps and 18 wefts per centimetre. Two threads form each weft thread.
