Ancient Egyptian wool fragment from Hawara or Illahun dated AD 395 – 642

Length of woven fabric. Finly woven wool fabric with fine Z twisted warp. Coarse repairs in thick thread, possibly flax, long running stitches worked across the width to create a pattern. Plain woven with 14 warps per cm and 18 wefts per cm.
