Ancient Egyptian wool fragment from Karanis dated 30 BC – AD 395

Fragment of woollen textile. Canvas type weave, 5 or 6 threads, light brown, in parallel forming the warp, similar bundles in the weft. Red and green wool has been used for some of the weft bundes, not all of which is taken under all the warp threads. This technique produces a basket weave effect. With selvedge.
