Ancient Egyptian wool fragment from Matmar dated AD 395 – 642

Tapestry woven panel on saffron dyed wool ground. On a dark purple oval within a star shaped line are demi figures of a lion and a hare worked in red, green and yellow wool. The floral devices which fill the corners of the star are worked in red and green wool.
