Ancient Egyptian wool fragment from Oxyrhynchus dated AD 395 – 642

Woollen cloth with a design in tapestry weave, conventional fruit, leaves and a peculiar form of tree in centre. Purple border and centre. The fruit has green stems with pink fruit. The other patterns are undyed with a green line through the centre. The central design is bordered by pink. The border of all the design is brown, semicircular around the fruit and square corners.
There are eight warps per centimetre. S twisted warps.
