Modern plaster copy of one of the cuneiform tablets sent to Amenophis III. A roughly oblong tablet containing a letter from King Tushratta of Mitanni to Amenhotep III of Egypt. The text is written in horizontal lines, subdivided by incised lines at five different points. The text runs from one side over to the other, covering one edge as well. It concerns greetings to various members of the royal household, and informs Amenhotep III that with the consent of the goddess Ishtar, he has sent a statue of her to Egypt. He wishes honour for the goddess in Egypt, and that the statue will return safely to Mitanni. The cuneiform has been somewhat blurred in this copy. ‘29793’ is onto the bottom of one of the sides.
Brown, surface tinted.
