Supporting material glass lantern slide from Nubia Sudan dated AD 1900s

Lantern Slide with black and white photograph showing some rock-cut tombs. Poss. Middle Kingdom in date (?). It has been suggested that these tombs have been quarried out in antiquity, as their entrances are rather rectangular in shape. Location , but it is possible that these tombs were either located in southern / middle Egypt or closer towards Nubia.
The tombs are numerous and cut into the limestone hills on the banks of the river Nile at the same level. Larger tomb entrances are located to the right of the photograph. Some niches for false doors are also visible. The river Nile is in the foreground which suggests that the photopgraph was taken from a position on one of the islands (Elephantine / Philae).
Label ‘Rock Tombs on the Nile’
Hand written label at top spine ‘Rock tombs in xxx(…)xxx’ (half of the label is missing, end fragment in place)
