Lantern Slide with black and white photograph of a temple relief from the temple of Seti I in Abydos.
Raised relief. The central scene, right to an entrance or doorway, shows the goddess Hathor sat on a throne, caressing the king who is sat on her lap. The king is holding a sceptre in his right hand and is facing the goddess whilst his feet rest on a high pedestal. Below the central register some offerings are depicted.
Above the scene is a frieze of interchanging ankh- and w3s-hieroglyphs. to the left is a doorway, the right hand jamb of which bears the king’s titles in two columns. These are badly damaged. The architrave depicts the winged sundisc (Horus of Edfu) and further titles.
To the right of the central scene are three registers of raised relief – the (visible) top two show offering scenes with the king making offerings to deities, whilst the (visible) bottom register shows what appear to be nonroyal persons.
